Marian (Barnes) Burnham

Marian Barnes Burnham

After high school, I went to work in Boston for Mass Mutual Life. After 3 years, I left the commute behind and worked in Lynn for Electric Insurance Company. I then started my career at Hollett Real Estate first as a bookkeeper/receptionist until I started my family 2 years later. John Hollett asked me to work part time which I did for the next 30 years first as his bookkeeper, then property manager/bookkeeper and as a real estate agent.

After John Hollett’s sudden death in 2001, I returned to Boston at the law firm of Curley and Curley as their Office Manager. I also started working for Wendy Carpenito at Carpenito Real Estate selling real estate. I held both positions for the next 7 years until my retirement in 2008.

I have been married for 45 years to Richard Burnham, and we have 2 daughters, Suzanne & Cheryl. They have both been married for over 20 years, and we are fortunate to have 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters—all teenagers. Suzanne has recently been ordained as an Episcopal Priest (her third successful career). Sheryl is an administrative assistant to the president of a Credit Union.

As empty nesters for over 20 years, we have been fortunate to do a lot of traveling including: Hawaii, Bermuda, Punta Cana, DR, Alaska, as well as 3 trips to Europe.

Last August we sold our home in Saugus where we had lived for over 40 years and moved to Franklin, NH. We now split our time between NH and Myrtle Beach, SC.
